Hello All,

I’d like to announce a new opportunity that’s available to everyone in the Camarilla: Guilds! A guild is group of people with some sort of craft or skill who work together for themselves and their community. Many of these groups already exist informally—the guild system is designed to make those groups a little bit more formal so that they can better attract new members, make their resources known to the entire Camarilla, and be recognized for their efforts (in the form of prestige and other awards.)

For instance, there might be a Cooking guild; some people would be more skilled Chefs than others; those more skilled would hopefully teach the people who want to learn. Furthermore, the guild might do group activities, like go to a soup kitchen and cook for a day. Volunteering for a charity event is worth prestige like normall, but with the guild system, there is additional focus (and social reward) to one’s efforts.

In many ways, the guild system is just another way of thinking about the groups that already exist within the Camarilla; we’re explicitly naming some guilds so that (hopefully) we can create an even stronger community, and people can more easily find experts in their desired hobbies.

You will find the initial guidelines for starting a guild detailed below.

IN OCTOBER 2004, THE COMMUNITIES OFFICE WAS MOVED UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE NATIONAL COORDINATOR. Please reference that site for more information.

GUILD REQUIREMENTS

Guild Creation
Creating a guild requires at least 5 members and a general, uniting theme usually focused on the creation of something. For instance: Webmasters, Chefs, Painters, etc. Three months after creation, a guild should maintain a membership of at least 10 members to remain active.

Guild Coordination
The required leadership position within a guild is the Guildmaster.
  •  Guildmasters are required to create and maintain an e-mail list for the local guild. A Yahoo!®Group is easy to set up and costs nothing.
  •  The Guildmaster is also required to maintain the code of conduct on the list and add a member within three days of initial request, upon verification of Camarilla membership number and interest in the guild.
  •  Guildmasters are required to coordinate among the guild members, other Guildmasters, and the Head Guilds Coordinator.
  •  A Guildmaster must submit a monthly report to the Head Guilds Coordinator containing guild name, guild membership, guild e-mail list, contact information, guild events, and any problems, questions, or concerns.
  •  A Guildmaster should also make time each month to discuss the guild’s needs and growth, and hopefully plan guild events.

Guildmasters who fail to do their jobs should be replaced by the guild. If a guild fails to appoint a reponsible Guildmaster, the Head Guilds Coordinator will change the guild’s status to inactive until a responsible person can be appointed. The Head Guilds Coordinator will make strong attempts to ensure guilds do not become inactive for that reason.

Guild Rewards
The prestige rewards for doing guild activities will follow the normal prestige guidelines. Nonetheless, other non-prestige rewards will be available only for Guild members. These rewards will be based on the demonstrated advancement and mastery of the Guild’s craft. These rewards will initially be proposed by the guilds themselves, with guidance from the Head Guilds Coordinator. This reward structure may change over time at the desire of the guilds.

Guild Participants
Anyone may join any guild, though interest and hopefully skill in the focus of the guild is desirable.

Miscellaneous
Exceptions to any of these requirements may be given by the Head Guilds Coordinator on a case by case basis, and the requirements can be updated and improved upon later.
