Introduction

Welcome to the Dark Places on the Map Wiki, a resource for background development and connections taking place in countries without a Camarilla affiliate. The “Dark Places on the Map" refers to the 85% of the globe without an Affiliate Nation or Global Independent Regional Officer to administrate Storytelling for the purposes of backgrounds or proxies. That’s where the office of DPotM comes into play. This webpage is a Wiki, so anyone can log in and edit or create entries. There are guidelines, naturally, and we ask you to follow them. When in doubt, contact the DPotM Wiki Admin or AMST DPotM.

Note: Entering character information in this wiki does not substitute for obtaining proper approvals for character backgrounds in DPotM locations as outlined in the addendum (section U.1.05).

  • Where are these Dark Places?

The process of elimination is often the safest way to determine what falls under Dark Places. Under the links section below you can find up to date information on our International Affiliates as well as the Global Independent Regions. Everything else is Dark Places. So if your character is from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Croatia, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom or the United States, you’re on the map. If not, you’re in a Dark Place. Barring that, feel free to ask at AMST DPotM.

  • Design Guidelines

This Wiki is designed to provide a brief, easy-to-reference timeline for Dark Place cities and locations. The timelines are primarily of player-activity so that current and prospective players can see how many PCs have contributed to the history of a city, and in what way. Who was Prince of St. Petersburg during the 17th Century? How many PCs were in France during the Reign of Terror? Who was the first vampire in Prague? These questions can all be answered using the wiki.

The Wiki is divided along continental, then regional boundaries, and then divided by city. Each city has its own rough timeline. The design guidelines are mostly common sense, but are enumerated below just in case-

If your City isn't there, feel free to create it- Not all (or even most) cities are represented here. So if the city of your choice isn't in the Wiki, feel free to create a timeline for it using the example format below. Make sure it ends up in the appropriate Continent/Region!

Do not edit another character’s entry without permission- If you are correcting someone’s spelling or grammar, that’s fine. But if you think a player has created an erroneous entry, email DPotM Wiki Admin or AMST DPotM with your reasoning. And if the article is found to be in error, it will be altered or removed.

Entries should reflect approved backgrounds- These entries represent the actual manner in which your PC interacted with his environment and his fellow characters. A crazy PC who thinks they were “Napoleon, Queen of Antarctica” shouldn't have a wiki entry placing their PC there (except perhaps in the Rumors section). If a PC background is the result of torpor dreams, madness, or mistaken identity, and there is a legitimate reason to put their PC in a time and place where they could not have been, they should write to the AMST DPotM to double check.

Entries should be brief- The Camarilla provides numerous Wikis to chronicle a PC’s history, attitudes, and experiences. When making entries in this Wiki, you are encouraged to provide embedded links to more lengthy biographies. For the purposes of this site, a brief one or two sentence entry per century should be sufficient to describe where a PC was and what he was doing. Keep entries in chronological order, and provide specific dates where possible.

Entries should be grouped by venue- Try to group entries by venue. If a group of awakening entries are at the top of the section, put requiem entries below them, or vice versa.

Please look at the following timeline, and use it as a guide for making entries.
