Frequently Asked Questions

This is still a work in progress

  • So who needs an approval to be on the Dark Places on the Map?

This is covered in the Camarilla Addendum, Section U.1.05, "If your character resided (as a supernatural) for more than a year, or impacted on local affairs (as mortal or supernatural) in any area, you must get written approval from the local Storyteller of that area." For the Dark Places on the Map, that's Andrew Trujillo, requiem.dpotm@gmail.com. Send him an e-mail explaining what it is you want to have happened with your character in a Dark Place on the Map. Once that's been cleared, just enter the history into the Approvals Database at Low, pasting the text of the e-mails into the body of the application. And you're done!

  • Does putting my character on this wiki count as talking to Andrew?

No! Not at all. The only information that should go on this wiki are things that have already been read and approved by the DPotM ST. Information discovered to be lacking the necessary approvals will be removed until such a time as they can be acquired.

  • What kind of material is appropriate to be included on this wiki?

Avoid getting overly wordy! This is not intended to be a replacement for the regular Camarilla wikis, but a supplement to those. Don't include every detail of your PC's history in a given city - just the parts which would have been known to other supernaturals residing in the same city at that time. After all, there are no doubt several dozen supernaturals of each breed residing in a given city at a particular time, so be careful when it comes to space.

  • What do the little letters in brackets mean at the end of a particular entry on the timeline?

Those are venue markers. [R] indicates the event happened in the Requiem venue, [A] for Awakening, [F] for Forsaken, [C] for Created, [L] for Lost and [M] for Mortals.

  • What does 'c.e.' mean? I've seen it at the end of years and have no idea what it means.

It stands for 'common era,' and has replaced A.D. as a calendar marker. Since A.D. stands for 'Anno Domine' and signifies a Christian calendar, it was decided to go with the less-charged 'c.e.' instead. Years in common era are exactly the same - Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492 c.e. just like he did in 1492 A.D. The term 'b.c.e.' stands for 'before common era' and is the new B.C.

  • Hey! There's a part of the wiki that conflicts with my PC's already established and approved history! What do I do?

Contact the wiki admin at dpotm.wiki@gmail.com. Best case scenario, it's just an oversight or miscommunication that can be easily corrected. Keep in mind, though, that the World of Darkness is a chaotic and inscrutable place - things your character knows deep down to be nothing but the truth and the whole truth may turn out to be anything but. However, for truly factual conflicts (two different PCs being Prince of the same city at the same time, for instance), contact the wiki admin so the conflict can be resolved quickly and fairly.

  • I'm supposed to have been the Prince of a city that's not on here! What do I do?

You have two options. One, feel free to create the city's page yourself. Being careful to only include approved information on the page, there are Forms and Templates you can use for your city. Alternatively, contact the wiki admin at dpotm.wiki@gmail.com and ask her nicely to create it for you.

  • Is all the information on here IC or OOC?

A little bit of both. Use common sense - unless your Forsaken character is both exceptionally familiar with Mexico City and has a couple Mage buddies, it's unlikely she'll know anything about the Awakening section of the wiki page for Mexico City. If you're not sure, e-mail!

  • I have a great idea for a rumor on one of the pages! Can I post it?

Use common sense! If your rumor is that your mage managed to make it rain frogs for ten days straight in Calcutta... well, that's a little far-fetched. However, if it's that your mage maintains the largest frog farm in India and enjoys experimenting with catapults at the same time... that's slightly more realistic. When in doubt, ask the wiki admin (dpotm.wiki@gmail.com).

  • Can I post pictures here?

Yes, but be nice to our servers. Also, it says so on the submission page, but just to re-iterate... DO NOT SUBMIT COPYRIGHTED WORK WITHOUT PERMISSION! If you have permission, please add a little note to that effect at the bottom of the page you're working on. Material found to be in violation of copyright law will be taken down.

For any other questions, comments, or concerns, contact the wiki admin Rachel Judd at dpotm.wiki@gmail.com.
