Real World Caracas History
Please be careful when adding real-world information to this wiki page. The Dark Places Wiki is designed mostly as a resource for IC information. The brief history below is included primarily to give players inspiration for their characters.
Caracas is the largest city in Venezuela, as well as it's capital. It is called by natives La Sucursal del Cielo, which roughly means 'a little piece of Heaven on Earth'. As one might expect, the city is much-beloved by those who live there.
Caracas was undeveloped until the arrival of the Spanish. The area was initially used for a plantation, though the plantation itself was short-lived when the natives rebelled against the Spanish lord attempting to set it up. This rebellion in turn was also short-lived, for another conquistador founded the city Santiago de Leon de Caracas in 1567. It was run by the Spanish until 1811, when natives inspired by the American and French Revolutions issued their own Declaration of Independence. This event was also when Simon Bolivar, a figure who fought long and hard for South American liberty, entered the world stage.
An earthquake virtually leveled Caracas in 1812, and was spun by authorities as God's judgment against those who rebelled. The rebels, though, were not dissuaded and continued to fight until Venezuelan independence was won in 1821. In modern times, the economy of Venezuela is buoyed up by the existence of oil fields in the country - Venezuela is the only non-Arab OPEC nation.

Two years later, Easy joins the Chorus of the Circle of the Crone under the guidance of Ventrue Acolyte Francesca Villanova. The cult itself is devoted to Tezcatlipoca. [R]
- 1998: Francesca Villanova of the Nahualli is bloodhunted and killed for risks to the Masquerade and monstrous actions. This bloodhunt creates tension between the leadership of the city and the cult's survivors. Easy ends up fleeing the city for 'El Norte'. [R]

- Due to the fact that nearly all the residents of the city love it dearly, Caracas is a city which is free from the corruption and despair which plagues the other cities on the continent. This adoration has been ongoing for centuries, and has soaked into every stone, brick and yard of asphalt in Caracas. While most supernaturals are welcome in the city, any who intend harm or destruction feel uneasy and often find their plans falling apart during their stay.
